That is correct. When HFA's are developed it's always important to try to
figure out what it's overwriting. 95% of the time it's overwriting the
fwmod.o or the simmod.o and this is problematic if you've installed another
hotfix that also replaced these files to correct an existing issue. Check
Point does not clearly outline this in release notes or provide warning to
that effect but it's been the answer I've always gotten when things have
gotten hot and heavy in a customer situation and we are about to install a
hotfix and ask the unexpected question "Does this have hfaX fixes as well?".

If I understand what you're saying, you (or your customers) have
problems for which you have "hotfixes" generated for. By installing
HFA_40, you are likely "undoing" those hotfixes because those bugs
aren't mentioned in the HFA_40 release notes. You'd likely have to get
a new version of your existing hotfix to properly apply over HFA_40.
Does that sound like a fair representation of the issue at hand?
